Dr. Trupkiewicz received his Bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University, followed by his D.V.M., also at Colorado State University. A joint residency in Comparative Pathology and Zoo Animal Pathology was performed at NYZS/The Bronx Zoo and the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Following this training, Dr. Trupkiewicz served as Lecturer in Comparative Pathology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis. He then began serving as Director of Pathology for the Philadelphia Zoo, a position he held for nearly 20 years. He has also served as Associate Pathologist for Northwest Zoo Path, a private diagnostic laboratory specializing in zoo and exotic animal pathology.
Dr. Trupkiewicz joined the JHU faculty in 2021, and provides diagnostic support for the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, and assists in training of veterinary pathology residents and postdoctoral fellows in Comparative Pathology.
